“…was not killed with those who were disobedient.” This is the last statement recorded in regards to Rahab. No longer labeled as the prostitute, she has been given the restored identity of extended purpose. She survived because she grabbed hold of the truth of God’s love and purpose for her life. There was more story to be written. Her life was not mean to be over. Her story would involve the Hebrew people taking a city that would forever change history. She would be forever part of that God-inspired story. Her life would make a difference.
There will be many moments in the course of our lives when the doubts and discouragements will rage like an endless war. The battle will at times be fierce, it will seem like the casualties continue to mount, and we might be tempted to question the worth of it all. Don’t give up the fight. There is an extended purpose deep within you to see the lives of others around you be changed by the purpose of God’s love for them. Refuse to quit. Don’t allow the past labels to rob your of your restored identity. Recognize what God HAS DONE in you and know that it’s all been on purpose and for a purpose. Determine to live out that extended purpose and make a difference.
