Salted With Fire

"Everyone will be salted with fire" (Mark 9:49).

Everyone is gonig to go through trials that will seem like it takes them to a place that appears to be unbearable.  And this is good.  It seasons you.  It gives you a flavor.  The flavor will either be bitter with contempt for life, or it will be seasoned with dependence on God and perseverance through strength in God.

The choice is ours.  If we want to be the "salt of the earth" as Jesus declared we would be, we are going to have to go through the fire.  And, He promised that He would go with us, and be with us, and that we wouldn't even adopt the stench of the smoke.  Of course, the choice to depend upon Him is ours.  That will be the key that will deliver us from the prison of discontentment, complaining, and bitterness that comes from the need to be in control.

Are you facing challenges today?  Does the road seems a bit long, unfair, or increasingly meaningless?  Allow God to use this in your life!  His desire is to stretch you and to break you, so that He can form you into the man or woman that He has destined you to be.  Your seasoning will give the flavor of God's love during the times of unloveliness, peace during the seasons when life seems out of control, grace when you feel out of control, and strength to persevere through it all.
