Speak Out

"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect"
(1 Peter 3:15).

Peter explains clearly that there would be days when blending in and denying faith in Christ would be more convenient and certainly more comfortable.  And, he of all people would know, as it was a road he had traveled.  But, he emphasizes the importance of being ready, able, and willing to share the faith that we have in Christ...and the reason WHY we have the faith at all.

In this passage, we are called to "preparedness" - to be fit, active, and ready at all times; to "confidence" - the anticipation of something better, a hope and an expectant faith; and "humility" - not allowing our emotions to count against us, but with gentleness, and a holy fear of the Lord, trusting Him above all for every answer we need.

It's definitely more intimidating than it sounds.  Of course, most of us reading this would have no problem saying, "yes...I believe in Jesus.  He's changed my life.  I'm saved!"  But to then take that and translate it into defending why I believe, or even presenting to someone why I believe, completely rips me out of anything that remotely resembles "comfort", not to mention "easy."  With that being said, we should always purpose in our hearts to be ready - ready to give an answer for the reason we live; to share what Christ has done in our lives and why we have a hope that doesn't make sense.

What God has done in my own life makes me think different, act different, talk different.  If that's true, why?  I know that He has forgiven me, changed me, restored me, and is using me for His glory.  I realize that God has done too much in me for me to keep to myself.  I have to share it, speak it, and shout it!

Think about this words of this song.  Allow it to become the cry of your heart:
When I think about the Lord and how He saved me, how He raised me
How He filled me with the Holy Ghost, how He healed me to the uttermost
When I think about the Lord, how He picked me up and turned me around
How He set my feet on solid ground

It makes me want to SHOUT! Hallelujah!  Thank You Jesus!
Lord, You're worthy of all of the glory, all of the honor, and all of the praise!
It makes me want to SHOUT!
