"But David kept thinking to himself, "Someday Saul is going to get me. The best thing for me to do is escape to the Philistines. Then Saul will stop hunting for me, and I will finally be safe" (1 Samuel 27:1).
Really? Doing the wrong thing will get us the right results in the eyes of God? Is God really so inept that He would honor us doing something that goes against His word, His character, His promises? But isn't it true that sometimes we feel so trapped between what we know should be and what really is? If we're not careful, that's when the enemy comes in and begins to work our natural mind against the mind of Christ that's within us to be consider other "alternatives" to how things are going to work out.
How current this mindset is in our own spiritual culture! People thing that they have to help God accomplish His plan for their lives by going outside of His path. David saw no other way to escape his enemy but for escaping to another enemy. David ran to the Philistines; the same Philistines that God had given him victory over. David had defeated their giant, cut off his head, devastated their national morale, and now they were the ones he was running to. God doesn't calls us to backward to where He's already called us out of.
The only solution to feeling trapped is to TRUST. Trust God to do what God said He would do. Trust God to deliver you. Trust God that He's big enough, and that He doesn't need the help of someone who got themselves into the situation they need HIS help to get out of! Trust God that HE's got a plan. Trust Him that He loves you more than you possibly know, and that He's going to take care of you!
