Jamaica: Day ONE

Well, this has been ONE LONG DAY! We met at our church in Pennsylvania a little before 3:30am and was headed for the airport by 3:45 to catch a 6am flight to Montego Bay, Jamaica via Atlanta. Atlanta was a 4 hour layover and proved to be a great time for lounging, napping, eating, and of course...card games in the middle of the waiting area! The team was laughing, talking, and just enjoying each other and the anticipation of what God is going to do this week.

Our first real test of the week was on the flight from Atlanta to Montego Bay. About an hour or so before we were to land, the flight attendants gave us the Customs forms that needed to be filled out. Their directions were fuzzy, and the form itself wasn't very helpful either. For most people on our team, we filled out the form 3, 4, 5, some people SIX times before it was right. We killed many a tree today on that airplane. I now believe that people in hell will be filling out countless immigration forms, with Satan constantly saying, "NO! DO IT AGAIN!!"

We got to Jamaica, got through immigration, and then through customs, met the missionaries, loaded into 2 CRAMPED vehicles and began our 20-30 mile journey to the orphanage. This journey would take upwards of 2 hours! Slow traffic, 2 lane roads, driving on the opposite side of the road would prove to be one INTERESTING ride!

We finally made it to MY FATHER'S HOUSE CHILDREN'S HOME. We unloaded, met the children and ate an INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS dinner of chicken, rice & beans, and some great hot sauce! We ended the day in the pool. YES, they have a pool here!!! What a great day! Tomorrow will be hot, challenging, and filled with opportunities to be the hands and feet of a Jesus who so loved the world that He came! We have come to be used of God and to be changed more and more into His likeness!!
